Yarl Geek Challenge: Season 6

Yarl Geek Challenge is a step of Yarl IT Hub in transforming Jaffna the next Silicon Valley. YGC is an annual premier hackathon that is open to innovators in Sri Lanka. YGC encourages innovation and creativity while nurturing IT skills along with a passion for entrepreneurship among the participants.

The bright and passionate youngsters are invited to take part in this hackathon by taking the responsibility of solving world’s issues using technology. It is because YIT believes that the young minds and their thoughts can create a change in the traditional way of doing things. Apart from being a platform for innovators, Yarl Geek Challenge also is an opportunity for the participants to work along with various industries and gain experience. Furthermore, it is a chance to widen your social network by exposing your ideas and transforming them into reality.


COMPETITION : CATEGORY

Mobile App Development

Build Mobile based applications to fulfill any need of your community or solve social issues found in your society or even around the world. You can choose any technology, but Yarl IT Hub encourages free licensed technologies and tools such as Bootstrap, html5, PhoneGap and Android.

Web App Development

Participants could use to build their web applications to solve a problem or cater a need in the society. Html5, php, bootstrap, javascript technologies may be used for development but not limited to above.

Hardware Development

Arduino, Raspberry Pi and IoT are a few technologies the participants are expected to use while building their products for the hackathon under hardware development.

Workshops will be conducted around Northern Province to get students familiar with new technologies.

Regional Competition

Participants will be competing in their regions and winners of each region will get to compete in the Grand Finale
